The distribution function was conducted on 13th Nov 2016  at  Maharaja AgrasenBhavan, No.340/8, 2nd Cross, 1st Block, Near Ashoka Pillar, Jayanagar, Bengalouru -560011, Time 10:30 am in the presence of  Subhash Bhansal, President- Agarwal Samaj along with Bipin Ram Agarwal, past president of Agrawal Samaj.

‘‘As we stood amongst the poorest of the poor in Jaipur, some of them coming from thousands of miles away, we realised this was not just about fitting limbs but also about restoring dignity to other human beings, and in the process to ourselves, for it is in giving that we receive. There may be other places in the world where compassion is that tangible; it is just that we had not seen any’’. said Bimal Kumar Saraogi, Project Director,  Karnataka Marwari Samaj.

Anil Kumar Alampuria, President, Karnataka Marwari Samaj said  ‘We are very proud to continue our social services every year , so that more and more people can be benefited’ dand applauded support of all the KMS members, KMS youth wing members and KMS Mahila Mandal Members present in the function.
The artificial limbs provided by Karnataka Marwari samaj uses Jaipur Limb Technology. This technology has been developed and further refined by the research and development team of the society. The Jaipur Limb is a one-stop solution for the patients who come for the customized requirements of their limbs/caliper as per their measurements and fittings. The process is carried out in such a manner and in one single shot so that the patient doesn’t need to visit the second time. It is so efficient that after this limb is fitted, a person can walk like a normal person without a stick or support, even run, ride a bicycle and climb a tree. After the fitment many of the patients can go back to work in the field, factories, shops and offices.

Digitization of the Indian Legal System the Urgent Need of the Hour

LegalDesk.com, in collaboration with iSPIRT Foundation, conducted a conference on “Digitization of the Indian Legal System”. The event which was held at KSCA Auditorium, discussed the need for digitization and newer concepts such as eNotary. As seen with Aadhaar, digitization brings about simplification of legal formalities, cost-effective and convenient methods to get legal work done.

During the event, LegalDesk.com unveiled a new technology that enables notarization of documents electronically. The proposed eNotary solution will verify a person’s identity by utilizing a combination of Aadhaar based authentication and uses video/audio recorded interview. With the eNotary system attestation, authentication and verification of legal instruments can be done remotely.

The present legal system in India is marred by pendency and it hasn’t evolved from traditional methods as we are highly dependent on paperwork rather than opting for a more digital approach where the entire legal space gets digitized. Digitization of the legal space therefore becomes the need of the hour.

Speaking on this occasion Mr. Prabhuling K Navadgi, Additional Solicitor General of India,
said “This is a phenomenal initiative and a great way to examine the digitization of legal system in India. The concept of eNotary is very appealing and the concept can be further extended to digitize court records, property and document registration procedure in the country and can be considered keeping in mind the preventive measures against misuse”

Sr. Advocate of the Supreme Court of India, Sajan Poovayya was quoted as saying “With e-government initiatives continuing to transform the nature of our interactions, an enquiry into the probable role of technology in aiding a well-functioning judicial system, as is necessary to keep up with the demands of modern democratic society, is definitely well-advised and well-timed. The cascading effect, which would result from a sincere adoption of information technology, including digitization of records, electronic authentication and the use of electronic media, will most certainly go a long way in ensuring access to a more transparent and accountable justice system."

Ashok Kadsur, Co-Founder of LegalDesk.com said “We are aiming at bringing about a significant change to the Indian Legal System by simplifying Legal with Technology. Onceapproved by the Government, the eNotary initiative will be one of its kind as it would help the masses get notarization done in abstensia without them having to run from pillar to post.”

While the current system is functional, it lacks convenience and order at times and that there is need to pave the way for technology to take over traditional methods throughout the country and not limit it to few cities alone.

In the conference held by LegalDesk.com in collaboration with iSpirt, such issues were addressed and effective mechanisms to eliminate impediments in the way of digitizing the legal space was debated upon.

Several prominent personalities were in attendance to speak on the selected topic. The key speakers of the day were -
Hon’ble Shri. T. B. Jayachandra , Cabinet Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs, Higher Education and Tumkur District In-Charge.
Shri. Prabhuling K Navadgi, Additional Solicitor General of India.
Shri. Sajan Poovayya, Sr. Advocate of Supreme Court of India.
Shri. Kishore Mandyam, Co-Founder, DAKSH Society of India.
Shri. Sanjay Khan Nagra, Policy Expert, iSPIRT Foundation.

Talwalkars & Power World Open 20 Gyms in a Single Day in Bengaluru

Mumbai based Talwalkars Better Value Fitness Limited  (TBVFL), one of India’s largest fitness chains, is on an expansion spree. As a part of its expansion plans, it launched 20 gyms in Bengaluru in a single day under the Power World Gyms (PWG) brand. This expansion is also part of the company’s strategic partnership with Power World Gyms (PWG), Sri Lanka.
Apparently, Talwalkars had made a significant investment in this Colombo based company, its maiden acquisition outside of India in October 2015. Through these Power World Gyms, Talwalkars aim at providing fitness facilities at an affordable cost starting at Rs 5,000 per annum.
Depending on the success of this model in Bengaluru, Talwalkars also have plans to set up Power World Gyms at multiple centres across the country. India has a very low penetration of gyms when compared to the western countries and the market size is around Rs 15,000 crores, which is largely unorganised.
“The company was started by my grandfather when he set up our first gym in Mumbai in 1932. Now, it is our aim to reach every nook and corner of the country. With Power World Gyms, we are presenting an affordable model to our customers. We have done away with many frills. There is no air conditioning, steam, sauna or massage at the Power World Gyms centres. This helps us offer the gym services to our customers at a very affordable cost and is almost half of what we offer at the other Talwalkars Gyms in the country,” said Prashant Talwalkar, Managing Director and CEO of TBVFL, while launching the Power World Gyms in Bengaluru.
Interestingly, Power World Gyms Limited operates and manages one of the largest chain of gyms in Sri Lanka under the brand name ‘Power World’. The company was founded by Talavou F Alailima who was a Sri Lankan record holder for shot put and discus events. He brought the gym concept to Sri Lanka from the United States. “We have trained a lot of top Sri Lankan sports persons and Sanath Jayasuriya is amongst them. We have a network of 19 gyms in Sri Lanka serving around 20,000 members,” said Alailima.
On the other hand, Talwalkars have expanded significantly with more than 176 gyms in more than 80 cities across India, with places as diverse as Bhopal, Kolhapur, Hubli, Dehradun, Jamshedpur and Ranchi.
Talwalkars also claim that it has more than one lakh trusted members in the country. The company TBVFL is also listed on the BSE and the NSE, making it one of the very few fitness companies in the country to be listed on the Indian stock exchanges.
